Sorry, Fredrik ============== Perhaps it was the `slightly cocky note I wrote the other day`_, perhaps it was because I slightly mispelled his name (to my defence, it's hard to find on online.effbot.net!). Either way, `it seems like I've offended you`_, Fredrik, and I apologize. I didn't mean to come across arrogant nor condescending. .. _slightly cocky note I wrote the other day: http://www.z3lab.org/sections/blogs/philipp-weitershausen/2006_08_24_frederik-lundh-counting .. _it seems like I've offended you: http://www.jacobian.org/writing/2006/aug/22/pronouncement/ I must've overreacted to the frustration due to Zope constantly being treated as the unloved child in the Python community. It's just that under my impression, Zope hasn't been such a bad player in the Python community as it is always implied, for instance by the lack of mentioning Zope, by pointing to its marketing problem, and yes, even by counting pages in the "wrong" docs. Given Martijn's comment on `Jacob's blog`_ ("Zope blindness", "I've seen this happen so frequently"), I don't think I'm the only one with those feelings. That's no excuse, of course, and it's also not the point. Let's rather see how we can improve things constructively. .. _Jacob's blog: http://www.jacobian.org/writing/2006/aug/22/pronouncement/ It's not a mystery that Zope has a marketing problem, but it's also not as bad as everyone wants us to believe, either. As I've tried pointing out (I realize the tone was wrong), there are lots of docs for different kinds of audiences. It's probably my professional blindness, but I haven't yet figured out where zope.org points people in the wrong direction. I would love to actually hear from Fredrik and other people who have been turned off by zope.org's documentation what exactly they've been missing. Fredrik mentioned_ his "algorithm" that apparently led him to the wrong docs. If other people follow such algorithms, we better shape up zope.org to be friendler to those people. In fact, I hereby volunteer to help looking after this in the ongoing zope.org improvement process. But I can't do it without your constructive criticism, so I'm eagerly awaiting comments and suggestions. .. _mentioned: http://online.effbot.org/2006_08_01_archive.htm#20060824
