Hi there,
There have been recent developments on the Five trunk concerning the way
to integrate with Zope 3 templates for forms, etc.
I'm happy that such changes in Five are still occurring, though I do
think we should be getting more careful and stick to doing experimental
changes that still need discussion in branches, as things become rather
difficult to track otherwise.
Concerning Zope 2.8.0 however, Five is done -- do not expect a new
synchup with Five in codespeak before Zope 2.8 is released. Any such
changes will have to wait until Zope 2.8.1 at best, though more likely
it may be Zope 2.9 -- Five feature additions will be Zope feature
additions, and that doesn't belong in a bugfix release like Zope 2.8.1.
Of course, we still want to evolve Five more quickly than Zope 2.x will.
This can be done by instructing people to remove the Five package from
their Zope install, and placing a new release of the codespeak Five in
there.
We'll also have to figure out a strategy so that it is a minimal amount
of work to get the changes to Five in Zope 2.x -- we're facing a fork
right now as Zope 2.8 has changes to Five which are not in the codespeak
version. So far these are minimal changes to copyright statements and
the like, but it will be important to synch them up so we're not in a
world of pain later.
Regards,
Martijn
