I'm not sure whether I understand what your patch is about..

Anyway, it's quite possible we're somehow not sending an event where we
should... I'm not sure how much time I'll have to investigate this in
the near future. Are you using the sendsEvents ZCML statements to 
trigger event sending, by the way? If so, I think you're the first who 
tries to do something with it and I'm curious to see how it is working 
out for you.
