Well, I took a look at it and tried to think:

The skins are already available through acquicistion. Getting to them is 
not a problem. So really, I don't even understand how this would help.

It seems to me that I can skip the views and use portal_skins instead or 
I can skip the portal_skins and use only views.

But I can't seem to be able to use the views while retaining the design, 
layout, macros, and boxes and all that stuff that you get with
<html metal:use-macro="context/main_template/macros/master"> in a skin.
