Railroad is for very heavy situations, such as when there are multiple
servers that need to access the same repository. You might find
Railroad's 'little sister' Tramline enough:

i was trying to integrate Plone and railroad repository.
I was able to add railroad as a service inside plone and the "test form
" option is returing a randomn generated value as a confirmation that
plone and railroad is talking together.But when clicked on the "test
form " option in the railroad proxy which is added to the folder ,its
returing the following error

while trying to upload something using the proxy following message is
displayed,(postgresql database authorization is turned off ),so it
should be taking the plone authorization credentials

i am using the following versions 
Plone version overview
Plone 2.5.1,
CMF-1.6.2,
Zope (Zope 2.9.5-final, python 2.4.3, linux2),
Five 1.3.7,
Python 2.4.3 (#1, Oct 23 2006, 14:19:47) [GCC 4.1.1 20060525 (Red Hat
4.1.1-1)],
PIL 1.1.5

railroad packges listed in the plone site is april 2005 release and it
is tested with Plone 2.0.5 only,later versions of plone are not
tested.Is these issues are due to the version mismatch.
Any help?

Probably version mismatch. The customer who ordered it has yet to
upgrade. If and when that happens, we'll report.
