Had any progress on this?
I've checked what I've got and it's definitely a svn check-out
of 1.3.0.
In the copy I've got AT_GENERATE_METHOD is declared in
     Archetypes/ClassGen.py

Seems to be there in the svn (Revision 3157) of Archetypes...
