Use the transform which comes with kupu: it resolves UIDs to absolute path
urls (it used to resolve them to absolute urls, but that gives problems if
there is more than one hostname accessing your site).
To get it working, your best bet is to start with the latest 1.4 beta and
try following the instructions in the documentation. The transform is still
documented as being for captioning: I need to rewrite it to make it obvious
that the uid transform is the more important part.
When you get to the inevitable conclusion that the documentation is unclear
or wrong then post back here and I'll try to fix it.
