My problem was that the KSS debug seemed to be turned on by telling the 
resource registry to go into debug mode. I need debug mode to get useful 
line numbers in the javascript errors, but as far as I could tell the KSS 
debug messages are tied to the same option as the resource registry packing 
of files.

There is a separate switch for turning debug output on or off in KSS 
itself, but the resource registry setting seems to be taking precedence.
