OK I'm convinced and +1. But then I'm leaning against ever supporting 
the original syntax, as that means less language complexity to worry 
about everywhere. But that is not the issue at stake here.

(BTW I was referring to the LHS only, I support Robert in using a list 
for the RHS.)
