Yep, I'm disappointed too. There were a lot of positive comments on  
your project, but what it boiled down to in the end was that the PSF  
had 66 projects with mentors, only got 32 slots, and every sub- 
organization ended up sharing the short end of the stick (most  
projects only got one, and of those few that got two usually it was  
because they had a dozen application proposals (and so percentage- 
wise it was a lot lower). Personally, I think Cython will have a  
bigger impact on the Python community than most of the funded  
projects, but I can't pretend I'm not biased :) But one really can't  
complain about being given free money, and the PSF coordinator did a  
lot of work and tried to make things as fair as possible, so hats off  
to him too.

I completely understand if you can't work on it full time without  
funding, though you've had a lot of good ideas so I hope that you  
will still stick around.
