Hi codespeak users,

everything is getting ready just in time to make the physical
migration of codespeak.net this evening (Tuesday, 9th August,
GMT). The new location is a virtual XEN host that will make
the implementation of failover mechanisms easier. However,
those are scheduled to be tested and implemented only in
September/October.

The new host will be internally called 'code2.codespeak.net'
and otherwise become the new main 'codespeak.net'.
If you think that something is missing (because you
ran a special service on codespeak) then you should
be able to login to current machine via 'code1.codespeak.net'
for the next few days.

Up from about 9pm (GMT+2) most of the current services
will be brought down to finalize transfer of the current
machine's state to the new one. It will then take some
hours to complete the switch and have the DNS changes propagate.

If you see any problems on wednesday, please write a mail or
show up on #codespeak at freenode. Unfortunately, two other
admins who would otherwise help are ill or in holiday. Please
excuse any inconveniences the move may cause.

On a last note, there now are the beginnings of a "codespeak
admin" project, linked from the homepage which is meant to
provide knowledge and a discussion forum about the future setup.

And thanks to Grig Gheorghiu, David Stanek and Stephan Diel
who already provided support and suggestions.

cheers,

    holger
